A former editor of Greater Columbia Business Monthly and the Florence Business Journal, he is an active freelance writer for several regional magazines including Columbia Metropolitan, Lake Murray magazine, Lexington Life, and Sandlapper. Morton was also a corporate communications executive for Policy Management Systems Corporation, a worldwide leader in providing software and outsourcing solutions to the international property & casualty insurance market.

His public service includes service as a member of the board of directors for the Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, the USC School of Medicine Committee on Women, and the USC Innovista Research District Livability Committee.
